New IBS Research
1. Diet vs drugs:
A recent study looking at dietary versus pharmacological interventions for the management of IBS found that there was a larger reduction in symptoms in the diet groups, highlighting that dietary treatment for IBS should be considered as a first-line treatment. Read the full paper here
2. Can an app help to manage IBS in paediatric patients?
A retrospective audit assessing the impact of app-delivered gut-directed hypnotherapy program “Nerva” in paediatric patients found significant improvements in gastrointestinal and psychological outcomes. It appears to be particularly effective in those with moderate to severe levels of anxiety and/or depression. Read the full summary here
Guidelines
PEN have recently updated their probiotics summary, providing evidence from the most up to date international guidelines on topics such as traveller’s diarrhoea, IBS, constipation and H.pylori.
Check out the full summary here where you can skip to the relevant sections with ease:
IBS Events
